"Hello Kitty Island" is also "Godzilla Island"! Awaji Island is what we're talking about as it is also known as “Godzilla Island” because it’s the first place Godzilla appeared back in 1954. We tour the Godzilla Museum also known as the “Godzilla Interception Operation Awaji” where we get up close and personal to this giant lizard. If you are a fan of Godzilla, Mothra and others from Saturday morning television, then you’ll love this theme park in the Nigen no mori theme park.

Then we tour the soft and cuddly, Hello Kitty Surprise resort center with highlights of the Hello Kitty Shinkansen followed by a lunch stop at Awaji Chefs Garden sitting on the water of Osaka Bay. Awaji Island is located just off the cost of Kobe and Osaka making it a very easy day trip from Kobe or Osaka. Best of all, it is not overcrowded with tourists because the only way on to the island is by car or bus. Driving over the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is a thrill and we cover it in depth in our special bridge tour video: https://youtu.be/-foberKYxyA

We are John and Josephine Haynes with 165 years of continuous family heritage in Japan dating to 1861 and we take you to the less crowded, off the beaten path places of Japan that most visitors never see. Be sure to check out our other videos on unique places you won’t find elsewhere.

Uncharted Japan 4 hours ago

Most Iconic Places in Japan! #japan #japantravel #japantravelvlog

Uncharted Japan Tue August 19th

Dream of visiting Japan? We’ve condensed our YEAR IN JAPAN into one unforgettable video showcasing our favorite city, town, food, museum, garden and hotels. What to do in Tokyo? What to do in Osaka? What to do in Kyoto? Been there, done that and so have millions of others. But Japan is so much more. After one year in Japan, we take you off the Golden Route to the less known, off the beaten path towns and attractions so that you experience the top places in Japan that are less crowded and not overrun with tourists. Want to find the undiscovered Japan? Then join us in this special edition video as we celebrate one year on Youtube!

First time going to Japan? You're at the right place. Japan is so much more than finding the best things to do in Tokyo or the best things to do in Kyoto. We are John and Josephine, and we have 164 years of continuous family history in Japan going back to 1861. We love Japan and love sharing our experience and knowledge with others. But we don't focus on the big cities of Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto because there is so much more to Japan than these three cities. Over tourism in Japan is becoming a serious problem in these three areas, so come with us and allow us to show you the other parts of Japan. You'll be glad to you did!

Since Youtube pays peanuts, if you enjoy our videos, please help us continue making more videos by "buying us a cup of coffee". We can't do this for free forever, so click here to make a contribution https://coff.ee/unchartedjapantravel And THANK YOU!
