Countryside landscapes

Japan is an island nation and boasts tropical beaches to rocky coasts.  The interior is 70% mountains with cities occupying the plains.  Every type of weather and landscape imaginable is found here.  With four distinct seasons, any time is a great time to visit.

Food

Japanese food is far more than sushi, and not all sushi is raw.  Well known beef such as “Kobe”, “Wagyu” and “Hida” beef melt in your mouth.  If you have a sweet tooth, the pastry shops of Japan are second to none.  Come see all the delicacies available.

Castles

Many visitors think castles are only found in Europe.  In fact, Japan has more than 150 castles and castle ruins, some of which are massive.  Their signature features are the “keep” and the massive stone walls that are often surrounded by water filled moats.  Come explore them with us.

Museums

The Japanese are passionate about museums.  There are so many, its impossible to count them. Of course there are world class art museums rivaling anything in Europe, however, there are many more off the wall, unusual museums covering everything from luggage to sewage; from an insectorium to coffee.

hotels and inns

Japan offers the traveler everything from capsule hotels to the 5-Star Bulgari in Tokyo.  In the countryside, explore the ryokan, somewhat like a bed & breakfast but totally different.  They are all hosted by welcoming folks and the level of service tends to be exemplary regardless of price point.

cities and towns

Japan’s cities range from mega metro areas like Tokyo and Osaka to smaller towns such as Sasayama and Yamagata.  Every one is different with some being laid back and others vibrant.  While most visitors start with Tokyo, we encourage you to get out to the countryside to see the other side of Japan.
