Sometime around 6 AM this morning, we reached “100 Subscribers” on our YouTube Channel! Though it pales in comparison to so many other channels, that is a HUGE deal to celebrate! Each morning I log on to my YT dashboard eagerly awaiting to see the number. Its like Christmas morning.
During the first two weeks, it was thrilling to see “+2 subscribers”, but in the past week, we’ve seen “+8” and even “+10”. Again, not much by many standards, but encouraging for us. I’ve told Josephine that no matter how this venture goes (if it really takes off and our growth is exponential or if it drifts off into obscurity), I don’t ever want to lose the excitement that I have now of seeing “+2 subscribers”, We all need to remember our roots and stay grounded. The big near term goal is to reach 1,000 subscribers.
Some of you have asked “How do you get paid doing what you’re doing?” Good question. At this moment, we don’t! Not a penny. Until we reach 1,000 subscribers, we won’t qualify for the YT creator program, and even then from what I’m told we may only realize a few dollars a month until the channel gets noticed. This can create a little stress when all the cashflow is outflow and not inflow! Imagine airline tickets, rail passes, hotels, museums, meals, car rentals, YT consultation, marketing, etc., not to mention one’s regular monthly bills that never stop coming. However, we feel this is what we’re meant to be doing at this point in our lives, so enjoy the ride on our meager expense account!
