We’ve Been Recognized!

While waiting to board our flight home last week from Tokyo, a lady stepped up to me and said “We love your videos.  We’ve watched all of them.”   I was floored!  I had been recognized in the middle of Tokyo’s Haneda Airport!  Talk about a surprise!

Anna and her husband Jake were on their way home to the U.S. after visiting Japan the prior 17 days.  They had a wonderful experience and said they changed their plans to include a visit to Kanazawa after having watched our video on that city.  As we stood there talking, Josephine and I were encouraged to know that what we’re doing is having a direct positive impact.  I told Josephine two months ago that this whole Uncharted Japan/YouTube thing would start to become “real” when I would be recognized somewhere in Japan.  Well, it didn’t take nearly as long as I thought it might.

In addition to this encounter, we’ve had multiple emails and comments from viewers stating they are, or have changed their travel itinerary to include places we’ve highlighted in our videos.  Just this morning, I received the following from a viewer in Tokyo regarding our video on Tokyo:  “I’m born and raised in Tokyo and have watched tons of Tokyo guides made by non-Japanese, but your content, presentation, and overall mood are the best.”  Another Japanese viewer wrote about our Sasayama video:  “Love your videos.  There has been a lot of conversation regarding over tourism, but you’re showing that you can still experience Japan without the throngs if you know where to go.” and this one from an American viewer:  “We have a trip to see our son in March, so these videos are amazingly useful and informative!  Thanks!

This is the kind of feedback that tells us that despite our inexperience when it comes to video creation, we’ve learned a lot and have done a few things right.  So we appreciate the positive feedback and we’ll continue fine tuning our skills to bring you more quality content on Japanese travel.  Please spread the word as we need to increase our viewership and subscribers.  Its free and you won’t get unsolicited emails and such from us, but it will allow us to continue this venture.  So thank you to all of those who watch, subscribe and comment!
